fancy shoes

this past saturday my wife and i dared to brave the insanity of the "burbs" to hit one of the most spectacular man-made creations ever. IKEA. while wondering the isles of this mecca of the young hip urbanized throw away generation [possibly the coolest home furnishing store on earth, i might add] i realized that my shoes were in need of some serious attention. i was wearing my "good" shoes, which i had recently cleaned up for our christmas trip, but somehow the fact that my toes were getting plenty of fresh air and my heels were beginning to feel the pavement, i had to resign myself to the fact that it may be time for some new shoes.
thankfully in the "burbs" a person can find anything they want, strip malls and discount stores abound and the harvest is plentiful for just one swipe of the plastic.
finally, after hours of searching (actually it was the first store and the first ones i looked at, but it sounds better this way) i found possibly the coolest shoes i've ever owned, with maybe the exception of the one time i had those pump up shoes, they were pretty cool too.
with the target in range and the tag of only a few dollars i found my joy complete as i slipped my feet into "utter joy in shoe form" (and i think they're cool). it was a good day indeed, even though our IKEA experience yeilded few purchases.

be careful for the "burbs" becon to us all, yet only with a good plan, and well executed exit strategy can one survive, yea even thrive in the land beyond the city.
