well, this morning as i stumbled out of bed to go to men's group at 5:15 am i found myself in the bathroom staring at the mirror. not such a shocking thing really b/c it's usually about that far down the hall that i realize i am in fact awake and should probably do something rather than just watching this wierd dude staring back at me. Well, today i noticed a wonderful thing, it was my first white hair! while to some this would be a terrible shock for me it was rather awesome.
notice first that i said "white" not "grey" hair. it's a strange fenomanon in my family that our men go "white" early on. my dad has had a fully white head of hair as long as i can remember and appearently i am now also going that direction. for this momentous occasion i promptly dug around for some tweezers and plucked said hair out, placing it in a ziploc baggy along with a dark hair (mostly for contrast and to prove to my kids someday that yes in fact i had dark hair).
i should think that this will make for a rather dignified look in the end but the jury is still out on what the result will be. alas i will not waiver, i like the thought of going "white" as long as the hair stays up there.

from tam - i know a lot of guys that would kill for hair of ANY COLOR.... i agree with you.... white is way better than bald.... and congrats on joining the club! if only white (or grey in my case) were as "beautiful" on women as it is "distinguishing" on men! happy day to you, phil!

The white hair thing is a good thing. The Bible states that it is a sign of wisdom. And yet we humans try to pluck out, cut off, die to death those white hairs. Why don't we have some dignity and just let them be?
I think white hair can be tricky at times--some think you're older than you really are. So what, then you have the pleasure of enlightening them or you can just enjoy the thought that they think you're more mature than you really are.
Anyway, that's what I was thinking.
Oh yeah--did you ever have dark hair? I think the white hairs will hide better on your head than on mine. You'll note that after saying all that I did, I cut the sides of my hair short. (That's where the white hairs grow first.)
