where has the time gone?

either i'm extraordinarily busy or just flat out lazy but i havn't been so diligent in updating this thing. i think it's a bit of both.

i postponed my dental adventure till tomorrow so that's still in the works but other than that life is grand. i and staring down the barrel of my last two weeks of my undergrad career and thinking...where has the last 3 years gone?

we are preparing for changes in just about every aspect of life and i'm realizing that this is exactly where god wants us right now. take for instance this past weekend. it was good friday and easter, as you well know. i found myself on friday morning with the task of creating two large wooden crosses for that evenings service. while i whittled and chipped away at the notches to connect the beams i was reminded that a couple thousand years ago someone else whittled away at a chunk of wood, creating the real cross on which my lord was executed. while i chipped i was hit with the solomn fact of just what christ did for us that day. as i knawed away at the beams the sky darkened and a hail storm errupted (no kidding, talk about adding weight to the overall experience) in but a few minutes the sun shone bright again and the world returned to normal.

that night we walked our community through an interactive experience of the fourteen stations of the cross. we are not catholic but what an experience to have a tactile expression for each stage of christ's journey. as we sat in reflection at other stations the ringing of nails being driven into the cross rang out in the distance (one other station was nailing of sins to the cross) with each hammer blow i was reminded of the reality of the cross.

thankfully it didn't end there though, sunday brought the joy of the resurrection and the promise that death is not the end for those in christ. never have the cross and resurrection rung so clearly in my mind. now the sun shines and the season has brought an explosion of new life out of utter bleakness here in chicago. what an amazing creator we have that will show his faithfulness so tangibly in the changing of the seasons.

happy easter, spring, and what ever else you are joyful over!

Roxanne from Oregon Hill Grace Chapel here! Just got your newsletter today and have updated all your info!

Enjoyed looking over your musings!

Liked the dental stuff....when I had FOUR wisdom teeth removed in one visit...now that was fun! Laughing gas is the best stuff! When I was done and had to make my 2 weeks check up appt....I couldn't get my tongue and mouth to form the words properly and I had enough laughing gas left in me to send me into hysterics! That happened again when I got home and my mom asked me how I was....My what a funny question that was!

Anyway.....thanks for keeping in touch....I make copies of your newsletter for the missions team and some for the table in the foyer.

You guys look great!
