a good book

in all my free time lately (please insert sarcasm here) i have been reading a book by a guy named john eldredge called wild at heart. it is a wonderfully telling book about true masculinity and speaks (sometimes very pointedly) to my heart.

i'm going through this book with a men's group from church and it's really got me thinking around the idea of who we were created to be (as people made in god's image). i think that today we've lost the idea of masculinity as it should be and replaced it with a pseudo male role that has lost sight of our need to be men after god's own heart.

i have no dillusion that we have radically corrupted our god given roles as men and women but i think god would have men step up and lead like we were meant to. to love our wives as christ loves the church, and to lead in both mind and action. this is the striving of my heart, to be the man that god made me to be and this resouce comes highly recommended if you're a guy who actually cares about not wasting your life. (a good read for women as well....)

wow phil...you and I are so different...i'm reading the one for women, called captivating, (well, i was) and I hated it...i thought that John and Stasi were so off the wall, that i couldn't even finish reading it...but, i have heard that wild at heart is better...so maybe he can write a good book.
