as a church leadership team we come up with this idea to lure in potential leaders in our community with the wafting scent of pancakes. actually we've started this program called base camp to equip leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to join in the mission of GOD on earth, both in our communities and around the world. it's been a great success and we feel like GOD has honored the many hours poured into this effort. it's kind of a funny thing how we're really struggling to find high quality male leaders in churches these days. it's an alarming trend but then again i guess we shouldn't be too surprised. our culture has mostly taken away the need to be a man of integrity who needs to live and lead as GOD has intended us too. we're doing our darndest to bring the men of our communities back to life, calling them to the higher standard of both leadership and integrity which i think GOD calls all of us who follow him to. i'm diving in this am to reading the imitation of christ by thomas a kempis, a dead guy from a couple hundred years ago who actually got it. it's amazing to think about where we've come from and how in the end we've ended up needing the very same things: simplicity, silence, and a radical pursuit of the heart of GOD.
