Some thoughts on the movement arising...
Sitting in my living room with half a dozen college students pouring out their hearts in song to the one worthy of praise, it's so much more than just music, so much more than just songs. Worship is a funny thing, it can rush in on us so quickly like a broken bulwark against a flood or it can be the hardest of things to come by, more elusive than the smallest grain of sand amongst the multitudes on the seashore. What causes a heart to break before the Lord? What causes a generation to rise up in pursuit of something so much bigger than we've seen in our own days? Rarely have I enjoyed such fellowship with brothers and sisters desiring God to move in a way that we don't even really understand or know how to handle.
Something tells me this is how God intended His children to act. With a reckless abandon when it comes to the pursuit of the presence of Holiness. What is it that we worship? Is our worship a pursuit of the "idea of God" for which we come on certain days of the week to certain places or are we worshiping the God of the universe who is so much bigger than this world we know with all it's pain and issues and joy and ______. Something tells me that God is pleased with His children tonight.
I can honestly say that I think it's been more than 3 years since my heart has broken for the love of the children of God worshipping Him like it has tonight. So many hours spent in "worship" but yet so few that have really fueled my own spirit's fire... what would our lives look like if we'd live in a reckless pursuit of God that knew not the fear of brokenness but rather ran only after the God who is out there reaching back toward us every second of every day. God spark the revival of a movement in our hearts that I know you desire... may we be people who worship as John 4.23 calls us too, to be worshippers in pneuma and aletheia...
