chicago, thanksgiving, and parrots!?

what do these three have in common? before you start thinking we cooked up a bunch for the annual feast let me explain. it has come to our attention that aparently there are roaming bands of parrots flying around chicago. they were purched outside our living room windows last thursday in insanely cold weather. these hearty little green birds are not just enjoying the tropics these days, they have a whole little colony living on the south side of chicago. who would have thought!

Hi Phil, Funny, there was just an article in Lancaster Tuesday morning paper about the "monk parakeets" it was about how many there are getting to be in New Hampshire! The people were really upset because the local power company was tearing down their nests and then exterminating the birds. They were building them on the poles that have the transformers on them. People said it was ok to take the nests down but why must they kill the birds? At least now we know what they are and where they come from.
