turkey bowl '05

after church yesterday i found myself and a few (MUCH BIGGER) friends on a muddy football field for our 2nd annual ccw turkey bowl. it was a blast. running around in the mud in camo shorts and a t-shirt, in late november, who could ask for more. today however my body is not as fond of such sports. with a thumb at nearly double it's size and legs that now hate to bend i can honestly say that was a blast. it's been a while since i've had such muddy fun.
i think it's vitally important for a community to not just spend sunday mornings together but to also play together. it's only when we do life together that we can really show the love of christ to each other. i don't know that we will ever go back to the model of the NT chruch that shared everything in common but unless we really spend time together we have superficial relationships. to my community at ccw (soon to be the church of wrigleyville) thanks for the fun and the friendship. it's good to do life together, even when it's muddy and hurts a little.

pic thanks to Larry Deeter (a good friend and great photographer)

Everyone I've spoken to is sore from the game. Maybe our next step as a community is to warm-up & strech properly. :) As for my injuries, my big toe is a lovely shade of purple.
