high heels

i was getting on the train this morning and witnessed yet another high heel mishap. the lady in front of me stepped onto the train car and as she did her stiletto heel got stuck in the track that the "el" doors run in. she then promptly snapped off the bottom part of the heel leaving it wedged in the door track.
often while walking downtown have we seen similar such "heel related fatalities". from the sewer grates to the cracks in the sidewalk, chicago is a virtual minefield for those poor misguided women who spend way too much on those shoes. the whole thing seems silly to me, i may just be old fashioned but when a women can hardly walk because she's falling all over the place from those skinny tall high heeled shoes it really doesn't look that good. i guess that's just my opinion but please, is it really worth it?

either way, it does lend to making the morning a bit more light when you have plenty of people for comic relief. my commute to school never ceases to dish up plenty of that! gotta love this city.
