you are loved!

is a message this simple really offensive? apparently to some it is. before i explain i'll go back. sunday june 22nd was balloon day 2008, which was a huge success. headed up by our college students we were able to bless our community with around 600 of these green balloons with the simple message of love. after morning services we blitzed the community in all directions. the event was thought up to share the simple message of god's love with those who need to hear it, but just as much to get our people out the doors.

many folks had questions, some just blew us off, but in general people took the balloons with a smile and went along their way to the stadium or out for lunch. on the rare occasion that we did get in conversations with people, most were pleasant and thanked us for the gift.
on even rarer occasion though, we'd have the conversation "is this a Jesus thing?" the usual response being "b/c if it is then i want no part". it's funny to me how a simple message like "you are loved" can be so offensive to some. it's true that even though some don't want any part in a "jesus" thing, they are still so loved by God that if they knew they'd be shocked. our message and goal was simply to love on people, we hope you know you are loved as well.

the balloons were simple, "you are loved" the banner cry. check out www.lovechitown.com for more info.

much love
