small town life

so i stopped in the local bike shop today and the guy in there still knew me. it's literally been 10 years or better. we chatted it up a bit and then i bought my piece i needed and hit the road. this all got me thinking though, how do we survive without being known? that was one of the hardest things about big city life, if you didn't have close friends that were close by you could be so utterly alone, even though you're surrounded by millions of people. thankfully it was within the walls of missio dei that we found community and friends. my prayer is that wherever you are you'd find people who "know you" but just realize it might mean you getting out of your box and getting to know someone else (b/c guess what, they're probably lonely too).

i'm glad to know that there's still places where people recognize you and know your name. although to his advantage he did see me A LOT when i was a teenager trashing every mountain bike i got my hands on. i pretty much kept this small bike shop afloat...

ah good memories.

much love
pb
